I just installed Unbuntu 12.10 (32 bit version) on a ZOTAC ZBOX (the box print label says it has an Intel Atom D2700 dual-core, 2.13 GHz). The problem is the system is running very slow. I noticed two issues:
1- the system monitor shows 4 CPUs all running 50% to 80% even with the system sitting idle.
Hi !!
I have system with Pentium D dual core processor. Recently my conky & system monitor showing that only one processor core is working instead of two. Is this normal software problem or wrong Bios setting ? or my second core processor is not working? Is it possible for system with dual processor to work even if one of two processor get damaged?
Intel launched a bevy of new processors, including its highest-end desktop CPU and new, security-enhanced 32nm CPUs for the enterprise. The Xeon Processor 5600 series also includes the chipmaker's first six-core embedded processors, plus a dual-core processor for & micro servers& that has a TDP of only 30 Watts, the company says....
Finally, the most awaiting MacBook Pro with the most powerful processor is rolled out. Here is the new MacBook Pro Winter 2011. Apple has been updated the processor for their MacBook Pro notebook series.
I have a dual-core Core i3 on my laptop, and System Monitor gives usage statistics for 4 different "CPUs". I'm assuming that the 4 CPUs the OS recognizes are actually the cores in the processor, and the 4 "CPUs" are due to the hyperthreading, which I understand creates a virtual core for every physical core.
For those of you who think that dual-core is so last year then have I story for you. The video we have here shows the TI dual-core OMAP 5 application processor for mobile devices outpacing the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. For those that don’t know the OMAP 5 sports ARM’s new and improved Cortex-A15 CPU design.
Neither "top" nor "htop" are showing output for multiple CPUs on two of my #! Statler r20111125 installs (32-bit with backports).top shows one line of CPU usage on a dual core and on a quad core. Pressing '1' to show individual CPUs just shows "cpu0".htop also only shows one CPU line and it's supposed to show each CPU as a separate line by default.
I'm using Intel i5-2430M processor which is a dual core processor, but the output of /proc/cpuinfo shows four cores. Why? Is is because of hyper-threading?
If yes, is there any way I can see the actual number of cores?
Also, how can I see the sizes of L1 and L2 caches?
Output of /proc/cpuinfo: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1206427/
My box is using intel i7 with hyperthreading enabled. So it has 8 logical processors. I am confused about their numbering.
I checked the /proc/cpuinfo file, the processor id, core id, and siblings do not AT ALL give any information about the REAL topology of the processors (e.g., the processor ids range from 0 to 7, and all the core ids are 0).
Can anybody explain this to me?
