tl;dr: How does the ubuntu user on the AWS images for Ubuntu Server 12.04 have passwordless sudo for all commands when there is no configuration for it in `/etc/sudoers'?

Amazon EC2-instance:
I made a user 'admin' and copied ec2-user's keys with proper permission.
After successful login, i tried to do sudo su for root access, it says 'admin is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.'
However i can do sudo su with ec2-user account and can gain root access.
What is sudoer file?
Hi I am not very experienced with user management in ubuntu.
I needed to create a new user to manage my application server so following some instructions online, this is what i did:
I became root
sudo -i
I added a group
addgroup jbossgroup
I added a user and assigned it to a group
useradd -g jbossgroup jboss
I created a password
passwd jboss
Then I changed the ownership of a folder t
New install of 12.04.1 and the user established during install cannot login.
I was able to create an new user by entering the system as guest. Ubuntu accepted the sudo password of the first user to establish the new user; but I cannot login as the user established during install. The newly created user does have admin permission and I can login using that user and do sudo stuff.
Created new user from shell script using following command:
sudo useradd $1 -p $2 --home /var/www/$1
I'm not able to login to FTP or SSH as that user, do i need to add the user to some group for that?
Hey.
Today I decided to get rid of my User Password since I'm the only user of my WUBI Ubuntu installation.
Now, whenever I get asked to put in my Password to run sudo or install something, I don't have a password to put in, and I can't proceed.
What can I do? Now when I try creating a new password for my user, I can't click the the change button.
I have to run this command to initialize gitosis:
sudo -H -u git gitosis-init < /home/ec2-user/id_rsa.pub
But that asks me for a password for ec2-user:
$ sudo -H -u git gitosis-init < id_rsa.pub
[sudo] password for ec2-user:
I do not have a password as i use the default .pem key file to login.
I know i can probably login as the git user and do this, but is there any other way?
