Why ldapsearch is not working with anonymous bind after upgrading OpenLDAP to v2.4?

http://serverfault.com – I have a setup of OpenLDAP v2.3 which I am using for last few years. Following are the lines in slapd.conf for access control. access to dn.one="o=abc, c=IN" by * read access to dn.base="o=abc, c=IN" by * none When I do ldapsearch using anonymous bind gives me result. For example following command gives result. ldapsearch -x -h localhost -b "o=abc,c=IN" Now I upgraded the OS, CentOS from 5.5 to 6.3 so the version of OpenLDAP is OpenLDAP v2.4. We have not changed the schema. But now the same ldapsearch gives me result: 32 No such object error. But it works when I ad (HowTos)

I understand this error has been asked quite a few times on Server Fault and I have done some extensive googling, however, I can not, for the life of me, figure out exactly why I am unable to ldapsearch.

My ultimate goal is to use the adLDAP php script on a debian box that is joined to a windows domain through openLDAP.

I've been asked to setup a multimaster LDAP environment on Ubuntu 11.04 - instead of a single master server. I cloned the master server and recreated it into two VMs. I am trying to follow the instructions on the OpenLDAP documentation here:

and it talks about modifying the cn=config tree within LDAP.

I have just installed fresh Centos 6.2 with openldap and samba with yum command. I'm having a bit of issue with finding the slapd.conf file. There is a folder for slap.d/ but no conf file in it by default. I can see folders

cacerts schema sldap.d

and ldap.conf file.

I have also checked in Fedora 15 and found same situation taht there is no slapd.conf file. So now where to start ?

New install of CentOS 6.3, openldap-servers-2.4.23. Generated a new certificate request, signed the cert, started slapd. ldapsearch responds on ldapi:/// and ldap:///. However, as soon as a request is made on ldaps:///, the slapd process consumes all available CPU and never responds.
