Hi everyone,
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop computer. I just upgraded to 10.10 from the previous version after getting my D-Link wireless adapter back after loaning it out. My internet now won't stay connected.
I moved from win.7 to Ubuntu (Unity) on all my machines and really like it.
There is just one issue I just can't solve.
I have 3 machines at home - a desktop (with no monitor, keyboard and mouse connected) and two laptops.
The desktop is connected by a cable to the router and the laptops are connected with a solid wireless connection.
The connection quality inside the local network and outside
I am trying Ubuntu on a trial basis to see if I think I could use it in place of Windows. One of the things I can do in Windows is connect my XP laptop thru a wireless access point which is connected by ethernet cable to my desktop, which is set to share its internet connection. The desktop connects to the internet by dialup.
Hi all, i am trying to use my laptop (running Ubuntu) to take the connected wireless network to allow a separate computer (win7) to be wired to the Ethernet port and be connected to the Internet.
To reiterate,
I want to bridge my Ethernet and wireless connections so that a computer connected can use the Internet.
Modem---(wireless)---> Ubuntu Laptop---(Ethernet port)--- Win7 Desktop
Bonus
I have problems with slow WiFi connection on my Lenovo notebook with Ubuntu 12.04. When I try to play MP3 or movie from my network / server connected to local network through WiFi, it plays really slow, buffer somehow. When I connect to network with cable, the speed is OK. WiFi signal is excellent.
Can you help me with that?
Hello all,
So, I have an Ubuntu 12.04 machine I am trying to connect to my 802.1x wireless network. Let's call it SSID for example. So I enter all of my credentials, it connects and displays "SSID is connected" or whatever the usuall success message is. I am able to get to the Internet and all is well.
But here is my problem.
I am building a lab environment for CCNA training, using GNS3. The GNS3 network is connected to a real network, let's call it LAN 1.
LAN 1 is not connected to the internet and is completely wired Ethernet. A single instance of GNS3 runs on a Windows 7 Enterprise host. The same host also runs a VMWare Ubuntu 10.0.04 guest.
Hi all,
I have a problem that I do not know how to investigate more. I am currently running ubuntu 12.04 since last July with no network problems at all, both wireless and LAN. About a week or more ago, my internet connection started to stop and resume randomly. Sometimes the connection also became really slow.
I just built my desktop, and connected it to the internet wirelessly shortly afterwards. I have a wireless PCI-E adapter in my motherboard. After a random amount of time(5-30 minutes), the internet stops loading. At the top corner, it still says I am connected to the internet. After clicking that icon, disconnecting, and then reconnecting once again, this same process begins again.
