I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my HP Probook 4330s laptop and everything seems to run fine, besides the graphic card drivers. When I go into settings -> details -> graphics it says Driver: Unknown.
I checked HP driver site, and it only had GFX-drivers for SuSE distros.
How can I get the proper drivers for this machine?
In Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), there is no additional drivers section in system settings, in fact, it has moved to a new tab in software sources.
my original problem comes from trying to connect my laptop to my TV via an HDMI cable. While my computer detects my TV on the Displays, I get no image on it.
I have looked at others posts, trying to get the newest drivers for the video card. And I have even gotten my post with those recommendations.
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04. Anything seemed well until I installed the Nvidia driver. Then a crash happened.
This situation is untenable. It seems I cannot trust Nvidia, and it seems that I cannot rely on Ubuntu gurus to test 3rd party drivers.
Does the onboard video on the motherboard affect the X windows configuration?
My system has onboard and pcie video. The onboard video is a NVIDIA GeForce 7025 GPU, On Board Graphic Max. Memory Share Up to 512MB(Under OS By Turbo Cache). I have a pcie dual head video card installed with two monitors. The video card is a GeForce 8400 GS, with 512mb memory.
I have an ASUS g51vx which has a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 260M CUDA 1gb graphics card. I have installed ubuntu 9.10 32bit using VMware player running from windows vista 64 bit.
Need some expert advise here please.
Burned up a clean download copy of Ubuntu 12.04 32bit to cd and installed. 500GB drive partitioned nearly 50/50 for Winbloze7 and Ubuntu 12.04.
Everything appears to have installed properly. In the System Settings | Additional Drivers the NVIDIA driver is referenced.
Finished installing Ubuntu 10.10 in my XPS15, intel i5 4g ram, nvidia GT 420M graphics card,
problem is when i go to additional drivers, the driver listed (Nvidia accelerated graphics) when I install it and reboot it the computer starts on the terminal, no graphic interface.
Hello, peoples.
I have been running Ubuntu off and on for a couple of years now (still love it), and I realized that I might not be running the proper drivers for my video card. Then, I realized that I don't even know what video card I even have. Would anyone be able to direct me to how to find my video card type, and the correct drivers?
