Why did adding the Debian testing repository create so many package dependencies?

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I have Debian 6.0.4, and I'm running an outdated Geany text editor package. There's no newer version available in the current stable repository, so I added testing packages to sources.list: #debian testing deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free And this is what I get for installation of the package: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: python-crypto mono-2.0- (HowTos)
