I have a Proliant ML350 G8 with two SAS raid arrays currently set up - thereby maxing the default P420i raid controller. I need to set up a large video dump space in addition to this existing set-up (for non backed up, non-critical, temporary storage).
I had planned to just add a 2TB SATA disk and plug it into the motherboard.
I'm renting two dedicated servers from a hosting company.
i can't install ubuntu 12.04 server on server in subject.
I've created raid array from MegaRaid utility as RAID 1 but when i've tried to install into hard disk ubuntu doesn't detect any drive. Why?
raid controller is Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SATA RAID Controller
Thanks
I had a Windows 7 RC/openSUSE 11.1 dual-boot on this computer running on RAID 1.
When I installed Windows 7 final, somehow it screwed up my RAID 1. I fought with it for a while, but decided to wipe the logical drive, and then go into BIOS and disable RAID. I reinstalled Windows 7 on the HDD, but I have no RAID now.
I currently have a Ubuntu 12.04 server booting off a USB stick and running a raid 0 configuration with 2x 2TB drives.
I would now like to add an additional stand alone drive (not as part of the raid). When I add the drive to the server and reboot I get an error indicating that my raid is degraded.

I try to Install a Hyper-V 2012 Core on a HP Proliant ML110 G7 with a Raid 5 (4x3TB=~8TB for use). It seems, that this Server has no UEFI Support (can't figure it out). So I ended up with 350MB System-Partition and a 2TB Install-Partition. Diskpart shows 8TB, but only ~2TB are free. Is there anything I can do, to use the whole 8TB?
I have an HP Proliant ML110 G5 with RAID1 mirror. One disk is dead and I took a new disk (same size, rpm and model) and put on the bay, BUT the system doesn't see it... I believed that I had only to put the disk in .... where il the problem ... Should I format the disk before the rebuilding?...
Help! thanks to everyone who could give me some idea to solve... (sorry for my poor english...
Trying to install the latest fedora on an HP Proliant ML330, and I'm not exactly happy about it since I just installed arch linux on another one last night with no problem.
