Hey I wanted to use chromium version 24 and by chance I have found this ppa https://launchpad.net/~a-v-shkop/+archive/chromium-dev
I have installed it and was trying to change the icon of google-chrome. I found that it is installed in /opt/google/chrome directory and there are some png files that vary in size, replacing that with new png icon I wanted to use didn't work.
heya erl!1) Icon sets. You can manage the icon sets(and add more) from the settings menu. You can get more icon sets on the web.2) Packager's preference. Chromium is just Chrome minus some Google-specific tracking stuff.3) You can get a later version of Iceweasel if you add experimental repos, but I wouldn't suggest it. The return is minimal. a) It
So for some reason (I feel a bit of deja vu with this) my chromium-browser is displaying as a default/blank icon instead of the proper one.I found the proper icon in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/chromium.svgIt's not being used, for example:no chromium icon by Mark Mrwizard, on FlickrThere's bound to be a simple way to just point the application to that icon address.
Whats the difference ?Why do i ask ?I have them both installed,And i cant tell the difference other than a different color icon in my tint panel. Why would you choose one over the other ?I decided to install chrome for no other reason that to see what the differences are.The only thing i can find is,Chrome has Icons and the settings are under preferences.as were Chromium doesnt have icons and say o
To change the settings and access certain features of Chrome / Chromium, the common way is click the Wrench icon at the top right corner. However, Chrome/ Chromium has many other features that arent available in the menu.
NOTE: NOT CHROME WEB APPS... Unity Web Apps as introduced in 12.10...
When I make a Web App after installing the Chrome extensions for Unity Web Apps and Online Accounts, It opens a Web App in a new window... Seems fine.
However it makes two window icons on the Unity launcher even though only one window is open... Their is one with the app icon which is expected...
I've seen this in another thread but then the poster wanted to know how to remnove Chrome while I'd rather have it work. Here's the deal:
Wanted to try out Chrome over Chromium, see if it's any faster
Downloaded the 64-bit .deb from the Google website
Uninstalled Chromium, just to make sure there'd be no crossover
Double-clicked the .deb and Chrome installed itself through Software Center.
I've run into a few issues, and I'm not sure if they're actual bugs or I'm just doing something wrong or expecting a feature that isn't there.
Whenever I run a web app, I have the web app icon for it in my dock, but I also have an extra Chromium icon (in addition to my normal one).
After installing Ubuntu 12.10 on my laptop, I went to download Chrome and got an error saying it was packaged badly or something, so I read up about it and found out about Chrome, and most people suggest that Ubuntu users should use Chromium over Chrome, although a lot is down to preference.
I read that Chromium is almost a 'beta' build for Chrome, but is quicker etc.
