I'm from chennai ,India . I have a usb dongle to connect the internet so how can i share this connection through the wifi . i used the wifi hotspot but i was not able to even detect it from my android phone . Please help . Thanks in advance
As many of you know, most of our android(not only android) devices can't connect to ad hoc hotspots. There's a solution for win7/8 users to set up infrastructure hotspot on their laptop using software like connectify and so on. Ubuntu also allows to create wifi hotspot to share internet, but it will be ad hoc one.
So here's the guide how to set up infrastructure hotspot on ubuntu 12.04/12.10.
So I updated to ICS few weeks ago but now i cannot connect to wifi hotspots.
I generally use connectify to make my laptop as wifi hotspot, to which my other devices, including phone, connect. On gingerbread, i was able to connect to this laptop wifi, but now i cannot. It shows in the available network but wen i click connect, nothing happens (it doesnt connect), no erro rmessages.
I would like to create a WLAN with my android, so I can use it with my notebook and the tablet could use the internet of the notebook. I know that there is connectify at windows that does that. I tought that using the button "use as hotspot" would work but he opens a ad-hoc hotspot, not a true hotspot, so my android cannot recognize the connection.
Looking for working solution to share my linux internet over wifi with my android galaxy ace.
I have linux mint 13. And i m trying to create a wifi hotspot. It creates and connects only to adhoc. but android galaxy ace doesnt detect adhoc connections. and linux doesn't connect to any other type of connection.
I'm a real newbie (and not a good English speaker...)
I've tried to run Ubuntu from Live CD to check it.
Ubuntu recognized my android's hotspot (I use android 2.1 with "Wifi Tethering") but wasn't able to connect to it.
It's really a problem for me because I don't have any other internet connection.
Do you know why?
Thanks.
Is it possible to make my Ubuntu 12.10 laptop use its wireless hardware in the same way as my router or my Android device when that Android does tethering?
I'm creating a simple application where android users can connect together and just move a block around the screen, I have the code ready to move a block around the screen, but I can't seem to find any simple examples on androids WifiHotspot, The host will be using the WiFi HotSpot while each client will connect to the Wifi HotSpot and use the hosts IP to connect to the game.
