Hi guys, i have at the moment a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.04 each one in separate hard drives, when i installed Ubuntu it taked care of the dual boot system letting me choose wich OS to run when turned on.
At present I have a dual boot system with Windows 7 and Fedora 14. I want to re-install windows 7 but most probably it will replace Fedora's boot loader. I have a lot of things set up on Fedora. I want to keep these things intact.
Dear Friends,
I am running Fedora 16 32+ bit distro on my pc. I just downloaded the package called liveusb-creator using yum command as root and was trying to see if I could use my 4 GB USB stick (pen drive) to install Fedora on other pcs of mine just as I normally do with DVD/CD. For this purpose I needed to download iso image of Fedora.
I had Fedora 15 on a computer, dual booted with Windows 7. I did a fresh install of Fedora 17, but in the process I seem to have wiped out its capability to boot Windows 7, which I'm pretty sure is still on the disk.
My plan is to install grub on the /boot partition of the new Fedora 17 and then fix the MBR to boot Windows and use Easy BCD under Windows to dual boot.
Help appreciated for a Fedora newbie.
I bought a windows 8 box, so I could install Fedora 18. I did not want to risk my main PC.
I first installed Fedora on a Virtual machine under Win 8, no problem, but it runs slowly. Then I tried to install Fedora as a dual boot. It failed to start from the DVD.
I then discovered you have to disable the secure boot feature from the boot menu.
Dear Friends,
My notebook and desktop run perfectly on dual systems: Win7 and fedora 17. As I follow the installation procedure suggested by the redhat / earlier fedora system, both my machines have the separated and cleared partitions; for windows, boot, swap and boot partition.
I have a Fedora 14 system which I really need to upgrade. I've been waiting while I learn how to use gnome 3 on another system I have on which I've installed Fedora 15. But I can't wait any longer.
In the past I've always installed a new version of Fedora from scratch, but I am considering using preupgrade this time to go to Fedora 16 or Fedora 17.
I just switched from Fedora 16 to 18 (not an upgrade but a clean install). Previously in Fedora 16, I had no problems doing a Fedora 16 and Windows 7 dual boot in EFI mode. Grub Legacy (EFI version) worked perfectly. Now with Grub2 (EFI) there seems to be no working chainloader command.
I can still boot Windows if I go into the BIOS boot menu and select it.
