Which Linux Looks, Feels & Works Same as Windows Xp ?

I am looking for a Linux alternative to the Windows editing software called MPEG Video Wizard DVD.

So about a year ago I bought a lenovo S10 netbook which came with Windows XP.

I wonder if there is some alternative to select.select(in,out,except,timeout) in python that would work just as select from linux, but also on windows. Normal select works also on windows but it has one big shortage - it only works with sockets.

I'm facing problem with abrupting blocking select (with timeout). Sometimes I need to end select call before timeout ends.

Let me start by saying that I hate Microsoft. I hate Windows. I would love to get rid of Windows. A few years ago I tried Solaris x86. But it couldn't so everything that I needed it to do to ditch W.

The air coming out of my laptops cooling grill seems to be much hotter when I use linux compared to when I use windows. I have no way of proving this because I don't have a CPU temperature monitoring utility in windows. In linux, the monitor says it's at 69 degrees C.

i have been using linux for a while now, and can't stand to boot windows. the problem is those pesky programs which do not have a linux alternative.

I have recently installed Kubuntu 12.04 on my desktop. The bootup works fine and there are no issues with the screen resolution or any other video related activity. But while the system is being used, the display gets reset (i.e. the screen becomes black and then comes back) and from then on the display gets into an issue.
