When I installed 12.04 I also added Ubuntu-restricted-extras. I decided to try accessing flash content in Firefox without the Adobe plugin, and I wanted to experiment with streaming video directly with VLC, so I removed flashplugin-installer.
Loaded a new x32 machine with FC17 XFCE. I went through the adobe flash plugin install procedure. All that went without incident. Used all the latest updates for FC17 and flash.
I try youtube, the videos seem to load but never start to play. Just a black square. Now, go to the plug in control panel DISABLE flash. Go back to the page re-load and the video plays just fine.
In a fresh installed or upgraded Ubuntu, first thing to do is install flash plugin for web browser to enjoy flash videos. As a beginner, we use Ubuntu Software Center to search and install applications.
In Ubuntu 11.10, the Ubuntu Software Center shows two: Adobe Flash Plugin 10 and Adobe Flash Plugin. I selected Adobe Flash Plugin 10.
Though the Software center is showing that "Adobe Flash Plugin" is installed in my computer, which is a Compaq Presario c700 running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, yet some websites like www.youtube.com is prompting me to download Adobe Flash Plugin to view online streaming.
PS: I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Plugin
I have the ubuntu adobe flash player plugin from the software centre.. and By the way i am on ubuntu 10.10 since this computer can't handle the newer ubuntu.. :|. I'm wondering how do i do a clean install of the flash player plugin? I know to uninstall it but is there a profile folder that it is in that i should delete after the sudo apt-get remove of it?
Ok, I go to watch a YouTube video, and it says that I need the Shockwave Flash plugin. No sweat. I go to Adobe and download the YUM version. Everything is up to date. I go to watch my YouTube video, it says I still don't have my plugin, which I go to reinstall, thinking that maybe it didn't install. But it's installed.
I posted this question on my disto-specific forum, however it appears to be a unique problem, so here it is:
Hi everyone.I installed the flash-plugin from RPMforge repo, but it does not work properly. I mean, when I go to youtube ,for example, the video is played back very quickly like X4 time... [by mhn23]
Moved to recurring.
I'm having all of the kinds of problems I expected from Flash once Adobe dropped Linux support. However, I'm having them in Chrome with Pepper Flash, while Mozilla's outdated plugin still works for everything. Anyone else feeling this?
First the fullscreen feature broke. It still has yet to be fixed.
