As the title implies, I'm on Ubuntu Gnome Shell Remix 12.10 and not able to change the window theme for themes I have downloaded. In the tweak-tool, I am able to set the GTK theme to a theme I have downloaded, but it does not work with that theme's respective window border.
Hello everyone.
Sorry if a thread like this was already started and/or answered but google and forum search haven't been kind to me.
After installing the gnone-tweak-tool and playing around with the window themes it offered none of them were really what i was looking for.
Can someone please point me in the right direction of where to get additional window themes and or shell themes.
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS uses Unity as the default Desktop Environment, which is based on Gnome 3. So Gnome 3 themes (window themes + GTK themes) works well in Unity as well as Gnome shell environment.
I'm experiencing some problems with Ubuntu Gnome Remix 12.10 64bits.
My gnome-tweak-tool doesn't apply themes properly. For the gkt themes, I noted that they are not fully applied. For example, I select Elementary's gtk theme and the window's border (metacity?) still with Adwaita. The theme also looks weird, what led me to believe that there was some engine missing, but that wasn't the case.

After installed gnome-shell session on Ubuntu 12.04, you may be interested to try out a few themes on your desktop, and this simple tutorial will show you how to do it.
Preparation:
Apart from ensuring you actually have gnome-shell installed, the first thing need to do is installing gnome-tweak-tool and gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme.

Hi I'm pretty new to Ubuntu but I got to know some advanced stuff pretty quick. I've already installed GNOME 3 shell and the Advanced Settings for Gnome. I downloaded a GTK 3.4 theme and put it in my home/.themes folder, but I can't find it in the GTK themes section of Advanced Settings. I've googled it and used the forum search but nothing helped.
I have installed the "Gnome Shell Theming extension", i have enabled it in the "gnome tweak tool", I have installed asome themes in my ~/.themes folder, still i cannot select any shell-theme. How can I enable and select Gnome Shell Themes in 11.10?
I was wondering what truly "gnome fallback" means in ubuntu? I am using gnome classic, which is lovely, but I wanna install some new themes. Do these themes only work with gnome 3? Do I have to get gnome 3 and then get themes activated in the advanced settings?
Thanks
