What's the difference between these ways of accessing the shell?

http://unix.stackexchange.com – From what I know it seems that there are many ways to access the shell on Linux. So far the methods I know are: To use a program such as Terminal or Konsole To use the shortcuts CTRL + ALT + F1-6 To disable X and boot straight into the command line To SSH in What are the differences between these methods? Are there any more ways of accessing the shell on Linux? Apologies if this is a noob question :S (HowTos)
