Hello, I'm Spanish, I do not speak good English, I will try to explain the problem:
I have ubuntu 11.10 and now has left me the following error in the Update Manager, you can install all updates:
I tried to go to System Settings ----> Software Sources ---> updates, to see how I have configured the updates and I think I have the right ...
Hi all,
I've been using Ubuntu for about 1 year as a side laptop, and I update responsibly every week or so, with all the checkboxes ticked.
Should I keep updating everything? How much of the updates are superfluous? Am I downloading loads of programs and updates unnecessarily?
I do not want to install updates that I receive for factory installed apps that I don't use so that I can save storage space. However, the updates continue to appear in my Updates Notification List. Is there a way to remove these unwanted updates and notifications?
I'm a bit afraid of breaking my machine because I've heard some people have had that problem after updating. How safe is it to just let update manager install all available updates? I currently have 300+ updates waiting and I've just been going through them and installing the ones that I know what they do.
Good day,
When I log into my web server via SSH I see the information:
88 packages can be updated.
80 updates are security updates
I tried apt-get update then apt-get upgrade but each time I log in I still see the message about updates. How do I install them?
I have just installed F 12 - clean install- but when I go to get updates today (Dec 2nd) no updates appear.
I have done yum clean and yum makecache but still no updates available in software updates
When I first installed Ubuntu on my laptop (HP Compaq nx6125), my wireless didn't work. Using the forums I was able to install WICD and using a bunch of terminal line codes install b43-cutter and, like magic, I could connect to wireless networks. This morning, the Ubuntu Update Manager popped up with a ton of updates. I told it to install all of them after which I had to restart my laptop.
Every time after I run Software Updates, and have installed all the updates, the Software Updates Manager will show "The last check for updates was over a week ago. Please click Check for Updates to check."
But the last update check was just minutes ago. How can I fix that?
I checked the package history, and under Today there's all the updates I've installed minutes age. It seems normal.
Excuse my ignorance, but I'm still fairly new with debian and its updates policy. I installed Waldorf almost two months ago and since then I have got updates every single day. Is it normal? I haven't counted total MB size of those updates, but I have a feeling that if I go for a long holiday the amount of updates would be huge when I come back. :D
