Dear Friends,
I am interested in installing multiple Linux distros on the same hard drive. Please tell me how I can do so. I have the following distros with me. Also let me know which one I should install from the list below. To be honest, I want to install all of them if possible. Which one I should install first, second etc.
Hi all,
First off, Happy New Year.
Just recently bought a Gateway/Acer 16GB laptop that comes pre-installed with Windows8 and 500GB drive. I also bought a 1TB external drive.
I need to install several Linux Distros on it, Ubuntu, CentOS, Oracle Linux, Fedora, SuSE, that's just for starter.
If you are a long time user of Windows or Mac and
want to try Linux, there is a high chance that your first distro will
be either Ubuntu, Linux Mint or Fedora since these distros are very
popular. However, there are some other distros that are more suitable for beginners in my opinion.
I have tested several linux distros these last four years and I wanted to post my experiences and what just downright urks me.
Minded me as I only had a limited amount of time to test distros and only the ones I tested are included.
A big one that needs to be addressed first is the size. Linux used to be a really small OS. Heck it used to be able to fit on a floppy disk.
There is a joke that there are more Linux distros than the total amount of Linux users. When this saying is obviously exaggerating, it is true that we have a lot of Linux distros already out there. But there will be more.
I have Windows installed on one SSD. The SATA cable is currently unplugged because I'm about to install two Linux distros on another SSD, those being Linux Mint 14 and BackTrack 5.
Dear popular community of Ubuntu,
Hello. I plan on installing several Linux distributions on my computer that has Windows 7. But I don't plan on keeping all Linux distros forever. I plan on keeping just one Linux distro (and keep the Windows 7 OS).
I have looked over previous posts, but was unable to see any threads discussing this particular topic specifically. I am trying to find the best laptop to install RedHat Linux on. I am probably going to install RHEL Server 6.0, since the new RHCSA exam is based on RHEL 6.0, I have access to various older distros.
Do I understand this correctly?
When you install multiple distros on a UEFI system you only have to share the ESP.
Each distro will use its own Grub.
The finished /boot/efi/EFI will contain a folder for each of the 3 distros.
ex. /boot/efi/EFI/redhat
/boot/efi/EFI/debian
/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu
The reason I ask is that Auntie Google hasn't been that helpful.
