I have 4 machines set up. 2 are running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 1 is running Windows 2003 server, and 1 is dual booting WinXP and Win7. 1 of the Ubuntu machines is configured to share out 2 disk volumes ("Data" and "DiskImages". My windows machines can see these shares. My other Ubuntu machine cannot.
The Virgin Boradband Data ONLY SIM cards do not work with many Android Tablets due to the APN virginbroadband refusing CHAP authentication. When disabling CHAP via the APN settings menu, Chap seems to still be attempted which drops the data connection. In order to fix this you will want to modify the root files of your tablet or android device to FORCE CHAP being disabled.
I would like to have a real time visual status screen displaying the current CPU usage (and possibly memory consumption) for a number of remote machines. These machines will be reachable only using TCP (not UDP etc) and the graphical client will need to run on Windows. Does anyone know of such a tool?
I'm trying to set up a VPN at my workplace. The instructions given to me require that MPPE encryption be on as well as PAP and CHAP. But in network-manager, if I select MPPE, the PAP and CHAP switches get disabled (see screen shot). There are lots of screen shots out on other forums where this is not the case, so I think that I'm missing something.

I'm trying to connect to the iPredator VPN service, but I keep running into problems with LCP. I've tried using knetworkmanager, nm-applet, kvpnc and plain old text-based configuration to no avail.

Say whenever the client access the service, It should return a file say /tmp/sample.txt.
And the problem is, the client is a C# program which is running on the windows 7.
I'm not really into systems administration, but I was called to set up this Windows 2003 Server. I put it in a VirtualBox virtual machine on the (real) Ubuntu Server.
I have a client that runs Windows SBS 2008 including WSUS service.
As the disk space runs out way to often and bandwith isn't a problem he asked me to help.
As I don't know SBS well and the customer is a friend (normally don't do such services :)):
how is it possible to configure the SBS that way that all windwos 7 client use original windowsudpate.microsoft.com service again instead of using t
I have looked everywhere for information but have not managed to find a solution.
What I need to do is be able to access the Scheduled Tasks of a Windows 2003 Server that is in domain X from a Windows 7 machine in domain Y.
If I run \\win2003server from the windows 7 machine I can access it and see the shared folders, but I cannot see the Scheduled Tasks.
I have tried to add a snap-in via MMC o
