hi,
Originally I installed Fedora 17 original one (that with Gnome) on my laptop but out of curiosity I have several other DEs on my laptop as well.
What I did is :
Code:
yum groupinstall LXDE
yum groupinstall FXCE
also I have MATE on my laptop, following the guide on forum.
since they were just installed for curiosity and I don't use anything other than Gnome practically, I'd like
Hi there! I'm a little curious, as GNOME Shell's really a great DE 'cause it's really about as customizable as GNOME 2 was if you think about it, if there's any way you can get MGSE in the GNOME spin of Fedora, as well as Docky and Conky. You can set up something like that easily in Fedora, or any other RPM-based GNOME Shell distro, such as Mageia, right?
Need something to play with over the weekend? The OpenSUSE 11.3 release is the first ever to include the OpenSUSE LXDE flavor. LXDE version 0.5.5 is included on the OpenSUSE DVD along with other desktop options KDE, GNOME, and XFCE.

Well what do you use? I use KDE GNOME Shell XFCE LXDE and MATE. I like them all. Primarily I use gnome shell for average everyday use. When I'm showing off linux capabilities KDE or MATE. Slow day with the computer? XFCE or LXDE depending on how much of a tweaked desktop I want.
XFCE is heavily Tweaked and LXDE is pretty much the same usual way it looked when I installed it.
Okay, I saw this and it made me wonder.

Yes I know, people complain about GNOME 3 -- if you think this is just going to be like every other thread complaining that "GNOME 3 sucks", go away. This is my rant and I don't care what you think.
No for -my- rant. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE !!!
So what happened?
I allowed a automatic update to run and after a suggested reboot, none of the desktop applications had menus any more.
Very frustrating
when booting into KDE menus are present so it's just a gnome corruption.
I tried reinstalling gnome.... but no change
It's not limited to my user account any login has same issues.
I was just about to install fedora KDE spin but i can't configure my mobile broadband USB stick to work. It works fine in gnome, xfce, lxde, unity, mate, cinnamon with just a few clicks... Is there a way to set this problem in offline mode...
The wait is finally over and the much anticipated release of GNOME 3 on openSUSE’s latest distro release, 11.4 is ready for download at a desktop near you.
