I've got a windows machine with 51GB of samples and was wondering if, instead of transferring all of them to Ubuntu, I could just connect LMMS (or any of the other software) to my sample folder using the "paths" setting in LMMS to point to
Code:
smb://192.168.1.3/path/to/samples/
The same goes for all of my VSTs on the windows machine.
I'm an absolute newby for Linux / Ubuntu. Yesterday I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on an old computer. It seemed to work fine. However today when I started the computer again the software center had disappeared!!
It wasn't in my starter list.
1) I can't install g++ in software center.
2) I can install other programs. For example, after I found g++ can't be installed, I installed chrome for test purpose through software center, and it worked!
3) g++ can be installed in the terminal via apt-get install. Only the software center way didn't work.
Who can tell me why this happens?

I am developing a 3D game/graphics/simulation engine on 64-bit ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The 64-bit version of my application compiles, links and executes just fine. However, I cannot build a 32-bit version of my application.
Try out what may be the best way to install software on Linux – the Deepin Software Center. This software center, named for the Chinese remake of Ubuntu it was built for, offers an amazingly simple way to browse the Linux software you already know and love. You just might find something new.
I love the Ubuntu Software Center.
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and my software center keeps crashing. Also, I cannot update using sudo apt-get update.
