I need to retrieve the event logs from an XP embedded machine which doesn't have the Event Viewer, to an XP pro machine with the Event Viewer and then view the logs.
Whenever I move an event log it seems to become corrupted and I get the message "Unable to complete the operation on SysEvent.evt.

Please see the First PrintScreen attached (Powershell.png). with the help of Powershell command I am trying to check the event Log of my DC. Please note the Red Rectangle Colour Box.
Yesterday i just finished installing a file server running Windows 2008 to our company.
I am sure it has been asked million times, but I can't seem to find an appropriate answer for my simple need. I am looking for a VB script that would pull event viewer logs into one location, either emailed to me or place on let's say my computer.
Thank you for your help!
Last week our Application Log appeared to be corrupt.
I am having a lot of people relentlessly trying to get into my dedicated server via rdp.
I have one ip that was hitting it for 3 hours straight about 5 times a second.
Is there a way to get a list of the ips from the event viewer of those who have failed logons easily?
I want to add these ips to my firewall to prevent further attempts.
Thanks!
When I try to start service via Services console I get the following error:
Windows could not start the %servicename% service on %hostname%.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control
request in a timely fashion.
When trying to start service from Command line via NET START this error message appears:
The service is not responding to the control function.

At my company, we're migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7. We've got 2 home made applications written in C# with the .NET framework 3.5. They use ClickOnce to be installed.
We're in the test phase and the installation of these soft crashes on some Windows 7 machines and doesn't on others. The difference between these machines should be the configuration of the policies.
We have a legacy application running on a Windows Server 2008 VM from Azure that is spamming our windows event log every minute or so. I do not have access to the source for the bit of code that is writing to the event log, only the dll file. I cannot rewrite it either as it's a massive piece of software, as much as I'd like to.
So my question is...
