I am working on a school project. I have to use an old computer as an thin client virtualized on a server. So the idea is that my old computer which i cant use with the new gen OS's is about to turn into a thin client which is running on my server.. Well I know it is possible to turn your pc into a thin client. But with ubuntu?
I've tried several Linux Distributions to act as the Thin Client OS to use spice,
but all of them are way too large, for example, Ubuntu 14.04 server takes almost 1000M after installation and it increased to 1200M after installing X.
And installing spice and all it's dependencies made it worse.
I have set up a thin client lab. The clients are able to boot up through the network, connect to internet and everythings like i wanted. Now, I need to customize client home environment, restrict games, editing menus etc. Also I will need to see which client is logged in, kick the client to the login screen, etc. I read these features are provided by thin client manager.
