I'm fairly new to Ubuntu. Downloaded and installed my first Ubuntu server this week and so far I'm very happy with my decision.
I set up a web server and within a very short time I had a WordPress blog up and running. Very easy and straightforward.
What I would like to do is install another separate server that will function as an email server. I will probably end up hosting 2-3 domains.
Dear all
I am planning to run an Ubuntu server as a mail server for our office. Our goal is to have an email server that connect to our web mail server and pull all the emails from server.
Our employee don't have access to internet but we need all of them use email.
We are hosting our own dns server our scenario is as under;
dns
ip: a.b.c.1
fqdn:ns1.example.com ------> reverse lookup to a.b.c.1
mail server
ip a.b.c.2
mail.example.com ------> reverse lookup to a.b.c.2
smtp.example.com ------> no reverse lookup
pop.example.com ------> no reverse lookup
web server
ip a.b.c.3
example.com ------> reverse lookup to a.b.c.3

Have 3 servers - web server, mail server and outbound-only email server. The outbound-only email server sends transaction based emails on behalf of the web server (password reset, contact us, etc.)
How should I set up the DNS to improve email deliverability for the outbound-only email server.
I have recently taken over management of a server running centos and whm. It has several websites and domains running under reseller accounts. Email has always been on a server at our actual office. I have recently changed our email from our local email server to gapps for business (our local email server was pretty archaic).
I am posting this here as the other option is the server forum but that looks too technical for me.
I am currently running a Web and FTP server on my QNAP TS-212 NAS. The server is used for general testing and uploads used by myself and a few friends.
Hi,
We have a mail server which has Zimbra installed on it and a file server. Folks use the same login information they use to access their email to access the file server. So the file server is using the same LDAP server as the mail server.
Couple days ago, at around 12 PM all of the sudden, the SSH connection to the mail server failed. The mail server itself was up and running just fine.
I have a commercial website on an Ubuntu web server and my hosting company has a mail server for all its customers.
For security reasons, do you think I should rely on my hosting company's centralized mail server for my domain's email? Or should I just set up my own mail server on the same Cloud server?
Maybe I should use Google Apps' mail server for my own domain?
Thanks in advance
I have bought new HP Proliant server, currently I have windows 7 installed, is it possible to use my server as web server or email server, and what tool would I need to do this? Please suggest any tutorial or something.
