Hey,
I am new to Ubuntu OS and ask Ubuntu community.First this is not a duplicate question.Actually this a question which is a summery of all solutions& questions were posted in this community ,related to Install Ubuntu along with windows 7.
I have bought a new Hp laptop with its original windows 7.I want to install Ubuntu along with windows 7 64 bit.I ran the Ubuntu 12.4 Desktop installation CD.B
This is my first time using Ubuntu 12.04 and needless to say, I am quite lost. My laptop uses Optimus in windows, but In ubuntu I am assuming it opts for my GT 540m. My questions is how do I install proprietary drivers and is it necessary for them. Everything seems to be working, but in the system details it says "unkown" for my graphics.
My wife bought a new laptop: HP Pavilion g6. It is an Intel dual core and so runs 64-bit.
I had trouble installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit and in the process accidentally deleted the pre-installed Windows 7 Home Prem 64-bit. It actually installed over the Windows partition deleting it.
I have a desktop which has an ASRock Z68 Pro3-M motherboard. I recently bought a really nice flash drive which on Windows can be read/written at 30-50MB/s. I think this is in part due to this 'XFastUSB' hardware stuff that the motherboard has. I then got to wondering if I could install the specific driver for the USB ports on Ubuntu using ndiswrapper.
Sorry for asking, especially as I've trawled through many similar questions. Mine is of the most basic element I think as this kind of thing is really out of my ball park.
Anyway I wanted to if by installing ubuntu on my old laptop hdd (I now use it as external storage), can I run it on my laptop which has windows installed.
Just installed ubuntu on my old acer aspire 5515 laptop for testdriving my first shackel free OS.
sofar so good....looks promising, but running really reaally sluggish compared to windows, its a fresh install and assuming i need drivers.
I go to system settings>hardware>addition driver.....
NEED: drivers for tethering windows phone 7.5 in windows 8
hi, i was happily tethering my t-mobile dell venue pro with my windows 7 computer. i recently upgraded to windows 8, and noticed i can no longer tether.
I've recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 to my PC. I've have Windows 7 on it as well. When I first started up Ubuntu, it detected both of my monitors. I then updated the drivers and restarted, but when I restarted, Ubuntu doesn't detect the monitors anymore. I've removed and reinstalled the drivers but that doesn't work.
