This time of year the HPC world seems to be a little slow. Of course, it is summer and many people are on vacation (I have just returned) and normally not much seems to happen until September. Although in the middle of writing this I just read the news that Amazon introduced EC2 for HPC. I’ll be looking into this later and try to get some more details.

Change the Hostname in Linux 3 years 14 weeks ago

Just a short Tutorial today. It’s surprising how many people do not know this. To change the hostname under Linux, open a terminal window. Type the following code. sudo nano /etc/hosts and change the text to your new hostname. Changes will take effect on Restart.

When it comes to trouble-shooting an application printing things to the screen, or to a file, is not as full-featured as attaching a debugger to a running device, but there is a time and place for printing a simple message to the screen.
