KDE.news: "The first Krita hackers started arriving on Thursday 25th, with the rest filtering in during the Friday. Thanks to KDE e.V. sponsorship, six Krita developers (every single one from a different country) were able to come as well as interaction designer -- Peter Sikking, of Gimp fame. At the KOffice meeting in Oslo the Krita team had a meeting to put the finishing touches to an ambitious plan. On hearing about it the Dot managed to lure two of the Krita developers in a separate room to question them and find out what was going on. Nobody got seriously hurt in the process.

Krita Sketch, a version of Krita for touch interfaces, has been released. Krita is a cross-platform sketching and painting application for the K Desktop Environment (KDE). It is a component of Calligra, KDE’s native Office and productivity suite.

In the last year, thanks to the help from the many sponsors in the KDE community and beyond, Krita has grown into a mature and polished application for digital artists. We've already seen many great pieces of art being produced with Krita! But there's one thing still lacking--besides a Windows installer, which is coming--and that's good training material.

It's Sunday now in Deventer and, except for Lukas Tvrdy, all Krita hackers have gone home -- or, in the case of your author, stayed home. Time for tea and writing a recap of the whole sprint and hackfest!

Could someone please tell me if the VC library required for vector optimization(sse,avx) by Krita is used to build Calligra Suite package.I talked to the devs of Krita and was advised to use the library to solve some of the speed problems with Krita when resizing brushes and working with layers. Some of the operations are extremely slow.TIA!

Hi folks, I've been a member here for some time now, but I am much more inclined to research and do than ask and wait. Ergo the delay in actually posting. I am grateful to this forum for all the knowledge I have gleaned from here, so thank-you to all those who know for your great posts.
