http://www.linuxquestions.org – hey everyone!!! i am about to follow a simple "how to" to install a web server on a linux machine with all the default settings(i.e no conf file is being edited (httpd.conf etc))...... here are a set of few questions i would like to know regarding such a web server: (1) at which ip can i access this server on lan??? (2) can i access this server (with the ip addr frm ques 1) from anywhere using internet?? (3)can i assign a proper hostname(like h**p:\\w**.xyz.com) to access this server from anywhere using internet??if yes then do i need some DNS configuration ??? thxx (HowTos)

i installed elastix on a server with a real or static ip address

i can access elastix webased system from inside my lan but i cannot do that from outside (i mean when i try to manage it from another place)

I have access to a server via ssh. I'm allowed to install things in my userspace. Furthermore, I'm allowed to use the bandwidth. I paid for access to this server, so they're pretty much ok with me doing things with my space. They told me not to store over 20 GBs of data, and I've kept to that rule.

I just installed Slackware 12.2 and everything ran smoothly. Except, when i boot into it, login and try and start x, it doesn't work.

hi m totally new to fedora...... i just installed fedora wanted to access the internet so just did the proxy settings in the browser like i used to do for windows....... however the net is not working... smeone told me that there is some config file where we need to enter the proxy server's id addess n port.......

hello all i am facing one issue, after changing my server i have noticed the php application are working very slow on this new server. I have already compared the rpm of the new and old server. Also checked some of the file like resolve.conf etc .

previously in our office there is no server for our domain.we just accessed it through public rental server.

but now we have planned to implement our own linux server. can we configure the same old domain in our server, and if the client accesses our webpage they should get it from our server.is it possible
