I just bought My Book Studio Edition II 2tb with eSATA being one of the decisive features, only to find it being even slower than USB 2.0.
I use the external disc in a RAID 1 configuration (done via supplied software on a windows machine, the partition is therefore ntfs).
I want to convert all apostrophes in this file to X:
Bob's book
Bob’s book
Bob′s book # (Might look the same but actually different)
The first apostrophe is replaced as expected:
$ cat file | tr "'" "X"
BobXs book
Bob’s book
Bob′s book
But the the two other kinds of apostrophe, strange things happen:
$ cat file | tr "’" "X"
Bob's book
BobXXXs book
BobXX�s book
$ cat file | tr "′" "X"
Bob'
I use Ubuntu-Studio 12.10 and here's my problem :
When I insert a plug-in on a track , I got a broken interface . I can use most of them without their respective interfaces , but most complex like EQ10Q are pain to use without its interface . The GUI is broken with all plug-in use in Ardour and packed with Ubuntu-Studio 12.10 .

but I was wondering whether there's a newer book on the market, because this one was released in 2004. I'm sure a lot has changed in the past 7 years?
