With little time for the Reality Distortion Field to wear off, a survey conducted just hours after yesterday’s Apple press event reveals that a whopping 44% of current iPhone owners in Britain want to upgrade. That’s probably good news if you’re Cupertino-inclined.
It’s the big day. iPhone 5 day.
The fanbois — not the 2 million that pre-ordered within the first 24 hours, but the rest of them — have only recently showed up to Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York City. Romain’s here.
Apple today announced that it managed to rack up 2 million pre-orders for the iPhone 5 in 24 hours, two times as many as it managed for the iPhone 4S last year, which sold over 1 million devices during its first 24 hours of pre-order sales.
Apple has just announced the iPhone 5. And new iPods. And the fact that they’re number 1 in U.S. notebook sales. Oh, and that they’ve sold more than 400 million iOS devices in total. And one more thing, the App Store now has more than 700,000 apps.
But of course, the iPhone has taken the cake.
Apple’s making commercials again, but this time they’re really really good. If you’re not sold on picking up an iPhone 5 yet, these ads spotted by Macstories will probably get you stoked.
Each ad has a theme and a one word name. The ads show off different capabilities of the iPhone 5, and I must say that they’re extremely compelling.

That said, only journalists and Apple’s own people were able to attend, but Apple has just posted the full video of its recently-wrapped event so you too can see exactly what happened on-stage.

There are very few things that will get me out of bed at 5am: a family tragedy, more than $100,000 in cash, and a new iPhone. Of course, Matt and I were there to cover the launch of the iPhone 5 live, but we weren’t the only early risers yesterday. Thousands of people, including fanboys, brands, and members of the media (not to mention Apple geniuses), were at Apple’s Fifth Ave.
Hope you already ordered your iPhone 5. Apple just updated the shipping estimate, pushing the window for all variations from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 weeks. And with good reason, too. It’s a great phone.
It’s the best iPhone yet per our MG Siegler and Engadget’s Tim Stevens. It’s much more than just a taller iPhone 4S.
You pick it up and it almost feels fake. That’s not to say it feels cheap; because it doesn’t — quite the opposite, actually. It just doesn’t seem real. Certainly not to someone who has been holding the iPhone 4/4S for the past two years.
