Watch ASUS Unveil the Trasformer AiO, the 18.4-Inch Dual-Booting Desktop / Tablet Hybrid [Video]

When we first saw the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity back at CES we were told that it should make its debut sometime in June. Here we are nearly at the end of June and still no word on the HD tablet from ASUS.  Who knows , maybe they got tied up building the new Nexus tablet for Google’s big unveiling next week?

A couple days ago ASUS aired a teaser video for an announcements they plan to make at this year’s Computex. Simply calling it their “Next Transformations,” the original teaser video showed us an outline of what appeared to be a new entry in their line of Transformer Tab tablets and keyboard docks.

ASUS already unveiled the Transformer (AiO) All-In-One last year at Computex, but we finally got a chance to play with it. It’s a dual boot Windows 8 / Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 computer/tablet. It’s a complete desktop, but you can remove the 18.4-inch display and it becomes a behemoth tablet. It features a Tegra 3 and has a button on the side that switches the OS in seconds.

Last week when ASUS teased us with their Next Transformation we kind of knew that it was a dual-booting Windows 8 / Android device. Earlier they announced their partnership with BlueStacks, and I was hopeful that wasn’t the tease.

I’m not sure if you remember the cool 7-inch ASUS tablet we got to check out at this years CES, the MeMO 171. This little device stuck out in my mind after leaving the show for one reason, it’s ability to use a the bundled Bluetooth MeMIC to make and receive phone calls through the tablet.

We’ve already received our invitation from ASUS to attend its October 16th event where it’s expected that the company will finally unveil the successor to this year’s wildly versatile Padfone.

  Back at MWC this year Asus debuted its PadFone tablet/phone combination with much fanfare. In April pre-orders were available in Taiwan with hopes that the U.S. would soon be able to do the same. Well sadly as is with most technologies the device was delayed with the S4 processor shortage being the possible culprit as to why.

At this week's Computex conference in Taipei, Asus unveiled an Android-based hybrid tablet/smartphone device called the Padfone, embedding a removable smartphone in a 10.1-inch tablet. The company also announced a more conventional seven-inch tablet called the Eee Pad Memo 3D, with Android 3.x, a stylus, and glasses-free 3D video playback....

I am not sure if you remember the ASUS Padfone, but it has been ‘in the making’ for an awful long time now. Initially announced over a year ago, we got a quick glimpse at the new revamped version of the kit at this year’s CTIA conference in Las Vegas and then again at MWC in Barcelona.
