Wanting da famous #! crowds opinions on mounting /tmp to tmpfs ???

http://crunchbanglinux.org – Not overly sure about this whole issue myself. Was wondering about any opinions and insight the ladies/gents here might have about it. Seems that newer Debian is now opting to mount /tmp as a tmpfs (to RAM) by default. From what I understand 20% of installed RAM is available to /tmp + then whatever swap space for spill over. Whereas in former Deb ( Deb based.) /tmp was a part of the root fs by default.It's kind of over my head, I get some of the poss benefits, less disk i/o, faster access blahblahblah. But on low spec hardware couldn't it be more sucktastic ? Increased RAM usage, the (HowTos)
