'Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit' fails to start after reinstalling GRUB

view story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – After a botched installation of FreeDOS resulting in GRUB going to rescue mode on bootup, I reinstalled GRUB from live USB. Following that, I have only been able to boot into Windows. I tried grub2-mkconfig from live USB and it listed all of my operating systems (Windows XP, FreeDOS 1.1 and Fedora 19) and they are all listed in GRUB, including a duplicate 'Fedora' that errors out with something about vmlinuz not being found. If I choose the other Fedora, the bootloader seems to have changed and it fails to start the 'Wait for Plymouth Boot Screen to Quit' service resulting in the boot screen (HowTos)
