Voice Commands to open applications?

http://forums.androidcentral.com – I am new to the droid world and was fortunate enough to get a Nexus 4. My life will never be the same! I have a few questions.. Is there a way to voice search for apps/applications on the phone? For example; "Google, open camera?" "Open/go to/play Angry Birds" "Turn on flashlight" What is the most effective way to get information from an email or text posted on my calendar? I would love to do it by voice but any advice would be great. I thought I read on a different forum that the Google search bar across the top worked differently than the Google Now (HowTos)

My name is x, and I'm a Google Voice Search app addict. =)

There's a huge difference in the Voice Search apps across the two different versions of Android.

I use Google Voice Search for EVERYTHING. I ride a Ninja everywhere, add it's my only vehicle.

Hey when ever i say something to S-voice and I ask it to search the web. I get taken to "google Custom search" and for some reason I cant change it . Its not like it on the normal web browser only with s-voice. any help please thanks. And the google "custom search" comes up with some pretty crappy results no matter what I type.

Hi, My first post here, I'm very new to Android so I'm hoping I'm just doing something foolish. Google Voice search used to work fine, but it has suddenly stopped working, and all I get is "Can't reach Google at the moment".

I speak, it says "recognising" and then it fails without converting any of my speech.

Ive searched for days on this particular issue and its driving me insane.

Just received Nexus 4, it is awesome, battery life is OK so far, not much idea but it is on fine side (not different than iPhone 4S)

Tried setting up Google Voice voicemail by dialing code that is generated by google voice (in browser) and it didn't work.

Is there a reason Google Voice doesn't sync "read" messages the same way gmail does?

If I get a new email (and notification on my phone) but I read the email using my computer's web browser, the email notification goes away.

If I get a new voicemail or text message (and a notification on my phone) but I read/listen to it using my computer's web browser, the notification stays there

How do you prevent Google Now/Search/Voice from showing people contact cards when you ask it questions?

I've already disabled it from searching PEOPLE in the Phone Search settings.

Google Voice used to be 90% reliable when I would ask it to "Call business name" but now it's like 10% accurate.

Just ran the updated to the latest version of Android. I was quite looking forward to playing around with the new Google search voice functionality. I have no problem getting it to recognize my voice and perform commands however the app doesn't talk to me. It always displays the information on my screen.
