I connect to one of my work computers by VNC using the following
Code:
vncviewer -via username@server_ip 127.0.0.1:xx -geometry 1300x800
I use this practically everyday to connect to our server and it ALWAYS worked fine with my F17 installation which has tigervnc 1.1
Now, I tried the same thing in my F18 installation and all I get is
Code:
$ vncviewer -via username@server_ip 12
Just upgraded to Fedora 18 :)
I use vncviewer all over the place, and depended heavily on the '-via' option.
From what I can tell, tigervnc (vncviewer) on F18 was compiled without this option.
Say it ain't so!
Or am I missing a plugin or somethiing?
If it was compiled w/o -via, why?

I am using TigerVNC to connect to my development server. I create a view by typing
vncserver
in a putty shell.
My monitor is a widescreen monitor and the vncviewer in fullscreen mode does not cover the entire resolution and it is just a centered square in the entire area of my screen.
I'm running Fedora 13 on an ESX 4.1 server.
I've changed /etc/inittab to runlevel 3.
I then installed vncserver.
Hey all,
When I start vncserver on F17, specifying a certain geometry, I do not get that geometry when I connect via a viewer on another machine. Setting the geometry has always worked in the past....but for some reason with tigervnc/gnome 3, I cannot get it to take.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior or know how to alleviate it?
Thanks!

So I'm trying to setup remote administration on a computer that's not at my house, but I'm finding that all of the FAQs on this are out of date.
As far as I'm concerned, an FAQ like this:

Is highly informative, yes. But if all these hoops have to be jumped through? Then this software is by default broken. It's broken.
