I tried Fedora for the first time ... installation worked like a dream, then I wanted to access Fedora from my Debian box on my LAN.
What I did in Fedora was:
1. Install vncserver and vnc (Tigervnc server and Tiger vnc were installed)
2. Gave command vncserver and gave passwd it asked for
My computer is an old Mac Pro (Not sure why I ever got it, but there you go), and after using Fedora for a few months on my laptop, I decided to switch my desktop over the Fedora too.
Let me start by saying that I'm a newbie to all of this, so I'm hoping that the solution is something really easy and obvious that I'm just not aware of. My general Linux knowledge is frustratingly shallow, and my networking skills aren't much better. Hence this project.
Dear Guys,
I upgraded some old systems before from fedora 4 and fedora 6 to fedora 9 and 10 using the cds, When I booted the cds of fedora 9 and 10 it detected the old installed fedora and offered to upgrade it, It sounds nice, I chose to upgrade and every thing went fine, The old fedora 4 and 6 became 9 and 10.
I just installed Fedora 17 64 bit. I partitioned my main drive (which houses win 7) while using the live boot from a USB. The install went fine. However, now my PC just insta-boots to win 7 with no option to boot to Fedora. What did I do wrong?
Note: I am a linux noobie looking for experience as I am a CS major. I chose to start my journey with Fedora.
Hi all,
Title pretty much explains what I want to do. I have F12 dual booted on both my laptop and desktop. Laptop is 64-bit F12, desktop is 32-bit. I'm trying to test my remote desktop settings between the two, just to see if it works, but it won't let me connect.
hi,
I just installed fedora 17 on my desktop (dual boot with windows 7) and I have to say I like it very much. However, there is one thing which has the potential to prematurely end my fedora life:
Compared to the installed windows the WLAN is at least two times slower when using fedora than on windows. this goes particularly for firefox, I am not entirely sure about other applications.
i have a bricked fedora 15(cannot run it, im stuck on a grub screen) and windows 7 as a dual boot. fedora is my primary boot but i cannot access windows 7 since fedora is bricked. my plan is to remove fedora 15 and run my windows 7 but i dont know how to do so.
I'll explain my situation and what I've done to try to fix it.
I had gotten a brand new laptop, a Gateway NE56R10u just the other day and of course wanted to to install fedora which I did without any problems. I have my windows partitions on sda1-3, fedora is sda4-8.
I went to update my fedora system to fedora 18 sometime had went wrong.
