I want to convert a physical machine to a virtual machine using VMware vCenter Converter. According to the product page of VMware vCenter Converter I should be able to create a virtual machine for ESXi, however during the conversion wizard I can only choose various versions of Workstation, Fusion, Player and Server as target type, not ESXi?
Hi I have notebook with bad HDD. HDD has bad sectors. I would like make a virtual disk with vmware from this computer.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a suitable linux distribution to run on top of VMware? I'm familiar with a few of the popular distributions but I've absolutely no experience with VMware iteslf.
The server will be running a small website with a mySQL server but reliability is absolutely essential hence the VMware thing.
We have recently bought a "white box" server to run VMware ESXi 5.0 (we're planning to use the vSphere 5 Essentials Kit). According to VMware's Compatibility Guide, the server's LSI Logic MegaRAID SAS 9260-4i RAID controller is compatible (support type listed as "inbox").
I've got as far as installing ESXi 5.0 on the host, and I've also installed the vCenter Server Appliance.

I have 2 different VMware server hosts on 2 different geo-locations.
one of the machines, which is located in Paris has gone corrupted and i was given the task to copy this machine from the other VMware server host which is located in London.
Both machines are identical (apart from the machine's name) and the only difference between them is the geographical location of the hosts.
