I am having trouble running VMware Workstation 9 on Ubuntu 12.10.
After successfully installing it, at run time, the following error appears:
The VMware Tools kernel modules could not be automatically rebuilt.
Please manually run:
vmware-config-tools.pl --modules-only
To rebuild them.
In an attempt to fix this problem, I am getting the following extra errors:
sudo sh /usr/bin/vmware-config-too
I've got an F18 VM running on VMWare Fusion 5.0.3 and it has been fine until today. Today's update of the kernel to 3.9.2-200 kernel breaks the VMWare Tools. In particular, the host-guest-filesystem (vmhgfs) doesn't work.
I reverted the VM, and then did a yum update on everything _except_ the kernel, and the vmware tools are still happy.
i installed vmware tools yesterday and it was working perfectly fine. the reason for that is i needed to share a specific folder from the host OS to the guest OS.
today, i was baffled that the shared folder cannot be found in /mnt/hgfs/
so i went out to check the config for the vmware shared folder - it was grayed out and asked me to install vmware tools.
Hi there,I've installed Arch Linux as a guest, and have followed the guide pretty well. I however came across a problem where I'm not able to start Unity even though I've successfully installed open-vm-tools and modules. It tells me that vmware tools isn't installed and that it can't change the resolution.
I have used Fedora 9 and 10 very nicely under VMware Workstation running on my Vista laptop.
FC 11 installs just fine. The VMware Tools install into FC 11 without error. You just cannot configure them, since the kernel is so new. The config-vmware-tools.pl script fails.
Hello everyone, I am a total VMware and Ubuntu noob, and I am stuck in a rather interesting mess.
I downloaded the Ubuntu 12.04 iso for my VMware Player 3. Here's what I did:Made a virtual machine with no ISO file, selected Linux (Ubuntu) (to install VMware tools).
VM starts up, as usual prompts me to download tools for ubuntu.
VMware tools get downloaded and installed without hiccups.
How do i install vmware tools on 11.2?
I uninstalled the open-vmtools non-sense
removed the remaining modules from it (no clean work from suse here)
installed gcc, make, kernel-source and kernel-headers
installed the vmware-tools rpm
i started vmware-configure-tools and it says that my kernel was built with gcc 4.4.1 while i try to use version 4.4 now....
VMware Tools are fully compatible with Ubuntu 10.04. If you’re running the latest version of Vmware software product, you can install newest version of Vmware Tools by following codes.
First attach the ISO image containing VMware Tools to the virtual machine. Then open a terminal window and execute the following commands
I'm running Fedora 17 on VMware. I need to install the VMware tools. I have followed the instructions but get stuck. It asks for the folder with the includes. I have installed kernel-devel and kernel-headers then updated the kernel.
