I have have to write a video device driver,
but rendering will happening in memory, not on a
physical card. I already wrote a simple
driver stripping out hardware piece code from
an existent vodoo driver. I an install it, uninstall
it but i dont know how to map it to a file
/dev/mydevice_video
In AIX we use the errpt command to monitory the status of hardware. disk, cpu , power supplies, fans, memory etc.
I know syslogd and /vat/log messages has some information.
I was thinking I might need to write a script to trap or words like error, failure etc.
Is there an easier way to do this?
I've got used to hearing a resounding calm down-type reaction from posts like this, so I'm assuming I'll get more of the same... :newbie:
Having seen many app's appear in the Processes tab and only noticing them as either Running or Sleeping; I was a little alarmed to find one ("manpath") with Zombie status earlier today...
I heard, as long as the memory is less than 4GB, it does not matter if the OS is 64-bit or 32-bit....
Which type of OS would you recommend running under i5 2.26 Ghz and 3 GB of RAM? 64-bit or 32-bit?

if anyone could send me a link to it i would be most grateful
Tired of not knowing anything except Windows. Bought a Dell mini with Ubuntu 8.04 installed on it and I'm working on learning Unix from the command line. This Forum ought to be helpful once I get a little further along.
All,
wondering what I need to do to make my VI scripts better formatted. The colorized commands, etc.., and the indents where necessary. Hope this question makes sense.
I am running Fedora and Redhate Ent 5.
Its not in the repo's. Its not in anything online that actually works. If i download the pack i either have the older versions of required packages or I dont have them all together. Now i cant get on any of the servers I did before because they upgraded, and I cant.
