I'm using Debian Testing and yesterday I had a substantial (safe) upgrade of packages. One of the effects of the upgrade seems to be that VLC (and KDE's Dragon player) no longer can use the H264 video codec. This change does NOT effect Kaffeine or any mplayer based media player (Kmplayer and Gnome-mplayer work fine).
VLC will not play certain mp4 h264 files. Some h264 files work, others don't. I don't know why.I opened vlc in a console, then tried to play the file. Here is the output.VLC is version 2.0.8. x64 build of arch.[0x1e64798] lirc interface error: lirc initialisation failed
[0x1e64798] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[0x1d72488] main libvlc: Running
Is there any GUI(gnome3,kde,xfce etc.) or PPA with an addition to Unity or other GUI userland to have the same functionality as Windows 7? For example- in Windows 7 you can go to a folder with movie files or mp3 files and simply click "play all" and it will automatically open the default media player with all the files added to the playlist based on the naming convention and play them.
