I am familiar with several languages and have experience in using Visual Studio, Eclipse, and xcode. I have really only learned programming and debugging from development environment.
Can I use the GUI program about sending and receiving serial data and show it on GUI, that was wrote on Window(Visual Studio) on Linux platform using mono Framework.

I'm currently taking a Data Structures course that involves the development of C++ applications using microsoft visual studio express c++, an application called Cinder, and we turn in assignments via GitHub. I know Mac users in the class use X code to develop to our needs although some small issues arise with compilation that needs some debug work to be done.
I am really struggling once I need to set up my development enviroment again (it's not just one computer, it's three, unfortunately). I need hours and hours to make it work. I need to see visual studio in my unity without any virtual machine or other IDE alternative.
I am sure Visual Studio is the ultimate IDE for .Net programming languages. Dual booting is not an option.
