Ok, so I'm having this problem. I have also seen something called Boot Repair
Any help?
http://paste.ubuntu.com/1595217 for boot repair report ala Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. (now running Ubuntu on DVD)
Wife's CPU (yup, I'm not in trouble yet as she doesn't know) is Vista with 10 gigs of pictures on it, and I wanted to wean her off Vista.
Following a fresh install of 12.04 on a dual HDD dual boot system first boot brought up Grub Rescue.
I installed Boot Repair in a live CD and ran the recommended repair. Boot Repair indicated a successful repair.
Upon reboot there is no entry for Win XP.
Gparted shows sda as full as it was before installing 12.04.
Dual boot system, Win XP and Ubuntu 11 with Grub, working fine.
Update from 11.10 to 12.04 runs smooth, at end I reboot.
At boot, Grub menu won't appear, I get:
error: out of partition
grub rescue>
Tried the boot-repair disk.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in my computer without problems, but after rebooting i got the following error:
Error: No such partition
grub rescue>
I am a novice with ubuntu and any detailed instructions to the problem will be highly appreciated.
I ran boot repair as per the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair
boo
I downloaded a copy of Ubuntu 64-bit OS iso images and booted up in the thumb drive. I then created a live USB using Unetbootin. I then booted the live USB up in non EFI mode and installed Ubuntu in a separate partition so that I could have 2 Operating System on my computer.
But I could not get the dual boot option.
Pre-installed windows 7 then installed ubuntu 120.04 using live CD
Ubuntu did not boot so used boot-repair to fix this problem but it did not work Now it directly boots to BIOS
Here is the summary http://paste.ubuntu.com/1128869/
ANY help would be appreciated!
After I tried to install Ubuntu 12.10 into my Windows 7 a black screen came up and nothing happened for over five minutes. So I force shutdown my computer and started again on the linux CD. I partitioned the Linux partitions manually and installed Ubuntu.
I have been using 12.04 for a few months, used the windows installer and installed inside of windows, only have a 250 gig hard drive about half full,so I didnt want another partitional has been well until last night. Now it wont boot. as the splash screen loads I get a white box with lines of want look like zeroes, and in the box is the word OK.
