http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com – The OpenShot video editor was the easiest to get in Ubuntu Studio's "Oneric Ocelot" release, so we had a chance to try it out recently. It's pretty good -- much more capable than Kino. It provides similar capabilities to Blender's VSE, but without the burden of learning Blender. In fact, the learning curve is very gentle, because the interface is clean and simple. I was also a little biased because I had learned that OpenShot was written in my favorite programming language, Python. I don't know why, but I still have a soft-spot for Python apps. What you're looking for isn't "picture editing" software.  It's "video editing" software.Video editing is hit or miss on Linux in general.The most straight forward is probably Openshot.  Also based on the same libraries but a little less intuitive is Kdenlive.If neither of those work for you there are several other video editing programs like Kino and p

Coming from Kino, Blender's "Video Sequence Editor" is a huge step up. Most people don't think of Blender when considering video editing tools, but in fact, Blender contains a very good one. This is not a separate application but an editing mode within the Blender application. It can work directly with animated scenes created within Blender or with video footage from other sources.

I'm kind of new to Ubuntu and I use openshot video editor for editing youtube videos that I upload. Recently I updated my computer (yesterday, 9/21/12) and after restarting my system I logged on, afterwords I attempted to open openshot but nothing happened. I tried restarting my computer again and even re-installing openshot but nothing worked.

Hello dear , i have been downloaded openshot 1.4 .tar.gz file , then i extract it , so i should install it using python(.py) and i did that , but when i run it it contains errors :
