Tired of not knowing anything except Windows. Bought a Dell mini with Ubuntu 8.04 installed on it and I'm working on learning Unix from the command line. This Forum ought to be helpful once I get a little further along.
Ok, so I am a complete newbie at Linux, but I'm doing my best to learn!
Does anybody know of any alternatives to l7-filter (http://l7-filter.sourceforge.net), the package isn't maintained any longer and I would like to find a suitable replacement.
I have .pgn file (chess) that I'd like to reformat.
I want to separate the line into one move per line
from
1. e4 e6 2. d4 Qh4 3. Nc3 Bb4 etc
to
1. e4 e6
2. d4 Qh4
3. Nc3 Bb4
etc
[\n\s]?[\d]+[.]\s\+ pretty much matches the pattern of the move numbers

Now cinecutie is registered on launchpad and on sourceforge. The reason of this choice is that the project now is a real fork and I need to use all free platforms I can. I'm not a Bazaar lover and so Sourceforge is used only as git repository, launchpad is used for bug tracking, features requests and, soon, as repository.

Case studies of open source success are always useful - especially when, like this one, they show how a UK government project that cost £100 million ($150 million) using traditional approaches but still didn't work properly, was fixed for just £35,000 ($53,000) using free software.
It's great to be a newby on this forum.
I have been loving Ubuntu 9.10 and all was working fine until I tried to Skype. My Mic stopped working. I have tried all avenues. Sound prefs, input/output connections all I hear is static hiss.
How can I resolve the problem? I've even tried different mic's.
Please help.
Running Mandriva One 2010, wireless works great in Live mode. When installed, I can only connect to unsecured networks (BTFon, BTOpenzone) but not to my own BTHomeHub network, which has a WPA key. I guess the problem is something to do with wpa_supplicant, but I'm not 100% sure what to do about it.
