If you are one of the many people waiting to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S III through Verizon, brace yourself for a delay. According to Verizon’s web site, the availability date is now July 12th, two days later than the previously announced July 10th date. The change appears to only apply to new purchases.
As quickly as Samsung sent out their press release on U.S. availability of their Galaxy S III, Verizon and AT&T have set up landing pages for the device. Right now, Verizon’s page is simply a placeholder waiting for content. But AT&T’s page shows pictures of the device, specs, and other details.
Welcome to the party Verizon. Samsung released the source code for the Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T over a week ago so it was only a matter of time before Verizon customers got their fix. The Samsung open source bank has been updated to include the latest kernel files for the SCH-I535, the Verizon Galaxy S III.
We just reported yesterday that Verizon had pushed back their GSIII launch to July 12 and now the pre-orders are getting hit with delays as well. The latest update from Big Red states that pre-orders will begin shipping out July 19. I’m sure this is a tad frustrating for many customers have been already patiently waiting for their dream phone to arrive.
Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus is now priced at $99 with a 2-year contract, which means it will probably get discontinued soon. The biggest sin is the full retail price still remains the same at $649. It’s still a great phone and you can’t beat the price for those that want to get the stock Android experience.
Will you be getting the Galaxy Nexus now that it’s only $99?
After a long period of pre-orders, Verizon has finally revealed November 29th as their official launch date of their Samsung Galaxy Note 2. With the ugly Verizon branding on the home button and all, the Note 2 packs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with a quad-core Exynos processor amd 2 GB’s of RAM.
If you’re in the market for a Samsung Galaxy S III, then you might want to head over to Amazon Wireless because you can grab either the Verizon Wirlesss, AT&T, or the Sprint version for $99. Unfortunately that’s for new contracts or lines only, but if you happen to be upgrading, it will only be $50 more.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has recently passed through the FCC sporting radios capable of utilizing Verizon’s LTE network. Nothing really new to be gained from this filing and you can expect the device to be similar to the one we recently reviewed. Except of course for the addition of LTE radios.
Visitors to the Verizon web site today were greeted with an offer to sign up for notifications about a couple new colors for Samsung Galaxy S III devices. Both black and brown will be available from Verizon, joining blue and white versions. No word on pricing, though it is hard to imagine they would sell for anything other than what the current versions go for.
