Brand new to Ubuntu. I have a Dell Mini 9 with Ubuntu 8.04.1.
My wireless will not connect to Verizon FIOS router- Dell says this is a FIOS problem, FIOS says its Ubuntu. . . what's the solution?

This is probably a simple question, but I'm going crazy and the past two days I've only became more frustrated.
My setup is as follows:
ONT >> Verizon FIOS Actiontec Router
192.168.1.1 for the FIOS Router, handling DHCP.
DHCP range ia 192.168.1.151 to 1.249
192.168.1.9 for Router #2 (AP) - this is an older ZyXEL 802.11g router.
Router#2 is connected by ethernet cable to port LAN1 of the FIO
My family has an Actiontec MI424WR-Rev. D router given to us by Verizon when we upgraded to FiOS back in 2008. As can be expected from period technology, its top speed (on a good day) is a whopping 54 megabits/second. We're thinking of getting a better router and connecting it to FiOS with the steps detailed here.
