http://www.oneopensource.it – “Si, ma chissà quando…” più o meno questo era stato il tono di alcuni commenti riguardanti la notizia secondo cui Valve rilascerà Steam e il Source Engine per Linux; a quanto pare, chi non era fiducioso è destinato ad essere smentito, innanzi tutto coi fatti, ma prima di questi con le parole di Gabe Newell, impiegato Valve, il quale ha confermato ad un lettore di Phoronix che Steam sarà disponibile per LInux entro la fine di quest’anno. Back in July, Valve started a blog and gave exciting news of Steam being ported over to Linux. This involved porting of Valve’s Steam client and some game titles over to Ubuntu Linux. On making the port, it was seen that Left4Dead 2 runs faster on Linux at a higher FPS, than on Windows.

Steam Box is a concept console from Valve and, according to Gabe Newell, it will be Linux-based, although it's not going be limited only to the open source solution.
