I have HP Pavilion dv6 6119tx system which has a screen resolution of 1366X768. But after installing fedora 17 on VirtualBox with Guest additions, the default resolution is 1280X768. Whenever I switch to fullscreen mode, I have some black space left on both left and right sides of screen.
Hey all. As the title says, ubuntu is wider than my screen. I don't know if that is another way of saying my resolution is off. I have googled and tried some instructions out but nothing has been working for me.
It's been hell getting Ubuntu 12.10 installed, but I've finally got it working.
I'm using nomodeset, and I have an AMD Radeon HD 6540G2 graphics card.

I have Virtualbox 4.1.2_ubuntur3859 installed on an Ubuntu 11.10 host, running a guest ubuntu server 10.04 with xfce4 and xorg installed with no-install-recommends.
I have installed guest additions, but the maximum resolution in the display settings is 800x600.

Hey,
I was trying to change my splash screen in ubuntu 12.04. I downloaded and used the super-boot-manager. But when I ran the program with a new splash screen I received a blank screen. So I ran the following script file, fixplymouth-precise script. And when it asked for the resolution I gave 1024x768-24. But my laptop is 1366x768 preferred resolution.
