This projcet is for those who want to use GNOME2 on Fedora 16 (17, 18, ... when possible). For those who are happy with GNOME3, you can safely skip this one.
What is GNOME2.F16?
From the name it is clear that this project is for running GNOME2 on Fedora 16. It is a perl script (gnome2.build.pl) that downloads selected GNOME2 src rpm from Fedora 14, compiles and installs on Fedora 16.

I apologise if this topic has been addressed, but I've had little luck finding anything, even with Google.
I still use 10.10 because I dislike Unity and Gnome3. What I'm wondering is, is it possible to get the Gnome2 source out of 10.10 and build it on something like 11.10? Or even a different OS?
I can't seem to get my hands on the Gnome2 source anywhere.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I find the new notifications very annoying, in contrast to the old gnome2 ones.

In the latest Update Pack to Linux Mint Debian (UP4) released in March, MATE 1.2 and Cinnamon 1.4 were made available as well as an option called “gnome2-frozen” which allowed users to stick to Gnome 2 and skip the Update Pack altogether.

I've install gnome2, xorg, and xinit (should xorg have done that for me?), and startx yields:
"xinit: unable to run server "/usr/local/bin/X": No such file or directory"
I checked in the directory, and startx, xpath, and xinit are all there
Am I still missing dependencies? If so, which ones?
Both the gnome2 and x11 installations took a lifetime and a half so I thought they got everything...
