GPSIM requires installing gtk+extra-2.1.1 before installing gpsim. Closing in on this now as I got gputils-0.13.7 installed. gtk+extra's configure has these errors in 'core tests':
configure:2261: gcc -V </dev/null >&5
gcc: '-V' option must have argument
configure:2688: gcc -c -g -O2 conftest.c >&5
Some binaries save the command line used to configure them inside the binary (I don't remember any that do, otherwise I'd check the source).

I've been trying to install wine, and having discovered many things I need (( yes google is my FRIEND lol )).

There is something programing the configure program with parameters.....
I want to build the latest stable version of apache2.
I downloaded the source and put APR & APR-util in the srclib folder, then changed directories to ./srclib/apr and ran:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apr
sudo make
sudo make install
This seemed to install APR ok, but when I run ./configure from the apr-util directory, I receive the error:
configure: error: APR could not be located.
I am using an ubutnu OS, I have installed LAMP stack using "tasksel", I am not able to find the "Configure Command" while I am going through phpinfo. But , in the same OS I am able to see the "Configure Command" only if I am compiling the php from source. Is anyone can explain how the tasksel hiding their "Configure Command" and how to find their "Configure Command".

I've been trying to compile .tar.gz and tar.bz2 files following on line guides and they all work for me exactly right up to the point where I have to enter ./configure. I extract the files from the tarball, i cd to the directory and follow every instruction implicitly but ./configure never works.
Fairly newbie.
Fresh Debian install.
I need to compile a package but the "./configure command" does not work ?
Getting the following error :
