We've just moved to Server 2008 R2, and I have setup folder redirection for our users using group policy.
All folders redirect and work as expected:

users can create and delete folders and documents within redirected folders.
users can only access their own redirected folders
Administrators can access users redirected folders

In a Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory how can I make sure that each user open login have their Desktop, Documents, Links, Pictures, etc folders set to a shared private folder?
For example, instead of the default C:\Users\<username>\Documents I would like that this would be set automatically to Z:\Documents.
Back in the old days of me being Admin, I recall it's some script set up in
I've noticed a number of similar questions here on this topic but not quite on the money for the issue I'm seeing.
Hello all,
I created a "Shared Files" folder in /home and changed the security of this folder to allow rwx access by a group of users (2 users in group). I am trying to redirect their documents, pictures, and videos folder's on these users (/home/userprofile/documents) to point to a single location at (/home/Shared Files/documents) in order to consolidate the location of the files.
I am administrating a remote Windows Server 2008 Standard. I have already 17 users in 'Remote Desktop Users' and all of them have home folders in c:\users.
But when I've added the 18th user it didn't create a folder for him.
Can you someone please suggest a reason?
I am looking for a way to acomplish the following:
Currently users have home drives mapped via AD profile as follow: \\fileserver\users\username
However if once a user was able to access \\fileserver\users and view everyones folder, but had no access to them.
This is not ideal since we have people saving important stuff to on their drives.
This question was asked before but was no answer.
Is it possible to restore lost users after Active Directory unistallation ?
I have a company that WANTS to be windows but the Owner....loves his MAC so I now need to migrate all the C:/Users/? folders to the shared drive in a clean way. I have a few ideas of how to do it but was unsure if there was a best practice.
