Is the user using Login Shell or Non-Login Shell in these cases?

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I am new to Linux. I have read a lot of articles about Login Shell vs Non-Login Shell but I am still confused. In the following scenarios, may I know whether the user is using a Login Shell or a Non-Login Shell? Case 1 - One PC is using Linux without GUI. The user can login to his account from the command line. Assuming that one day the user uses yum install to install a GUI Desktop environment himself. Now, when the user power up the PC, he will see the command line prompt. He login to his account, and then enter startx to go to the Desktop environment. In this case, is the user using a Log (HowTos)
